WHAT PARKOUR IS TO ME
Parkour for me is a tool of self exploration and a method for me to become a stronger, better person. As one of the founders stated “to be strong to be useful” and “to be and to last,” true Parkour is filled with deep principles that will make you grow as a person as long as you take your time exploring it, exploring your own self and always being honest with yourself. It is how strong you can be both inside and outside when you are filled with fear and when danger is very real. And it is also about being creative when a obstacle or a challenge is in front of you and blocking your path which applies both within the Parkour practice itself but also in life in general.
I think the core principles of Parkour is so important especially in our society today in which suppresses are individuality and where everyone wants to and tries to be everyone else. Parkour forces you to ask important questions such as “who am I?” or “what is the meaning of life?” or “what is true strength? what is the meaning of being a strong person?” What I want to express through my Parkour performance is my freedom and joy of movement exploration with the hopes that it might inspire someone to start moving and to start their own journey to explore themselves.
